Ok Bingy Man, I’ll have a go.
I think my woodworking skills are adequate, & wanting to improve.
I recently bought a wood lathe and an enjoying that. Although that has opened up a whole new ‘cost base’ for me. New Chuck £300, new bowl gouges £60 or more each, etc etc.
I’ve always tinkered & played at woodworking / carpentry etc, but as retirement plans start taking shape (some 5 or 6 years away) I need to find an activity to keep me physically & mentally busy when I finally put my spanners down and stop fixing cars for a living.
To give a bit of an idea where I’m at, here’s a computer desk I made for my son last year. Softwood legs, beech block top.

Awesome desk - I’m thinking of making something similar for my sons Xbox/ PlayStation/ switch/ and gaming computer lol

but I’m too busy atm . Yes I completely agree about keeping yourself occupied when that time comes- woodwork is the perfect answer as it keeps you thinking and of course to produce a practical piece of furniture is very satisfying. Don’t think I’ll ever be in the league of fine furniture but as long as it’s decent and well made that’s good enough for me . I’ve never tried wood turning ( no space for one ) but I’ve seen those chucks etc-£££££ - but I have seen some truly beautiful projects done by members on this site . Keep up the good work.
