Hi Gogs

Just seen your post. The 2 best timber suppliers in Geneva are based in Vernier (near the airport). Biggest is Corabois and then also Bourquin Bois, I order from both and they are helpful & friendly. Both are good professional suppliers so hard to differentiate but Bourquin has perhaps a slightly better hard wood selection and Corabois are slighly better for panels/plywoods etc.

If you want some hired help my workshop is close by and I can offer a lower "DIY assist" hourly rate.

Cheers

Sam

@SamW:

Hullo from the other end (top end?) of Switzerland!

You probably didn't notice but the original posts (from Gogs, etc) are now one year old. He doesn't seem to have reappeared here since Aug 2003.

I've lurked around the forum for a few weeks but decided it's time to get involved now which is really going to mean asking a few questions.

So in advance of that, thanks for your time and generous responses and incidentally as a member of other forums I can genuinely say I'm really impressed by the lack of sarcastic and unhelpful rubbish from experienced users. We've all been beginners at something and it doesn't do the soul any good to get shot down by arrogant, know it all so and so's. Good on you lot.

Here is imy first question then:

I'm living in Switzerland (close to Geneva), can anyone give me pointers towards local suppliers of wood and tools. I know my local DIY stores (such as they are in Switzerland) and I know companies like Axminster will deliver to Switzerland (used the search function already) but I'm in the dark about buying wood and quality gear. The French border is just a few km away so some parts of France would be an option too.

I'm just moving house and have a new 20m2 basement room which is crying out for a workshop plus a 10m2 wooden cabanon (shed) going up in the garden. Help me out please.

Thanks
Gogs

You might want to try these people for tools and some other stuff tool suppliers don't usually supply.

@SamW:

Sorry, there was an obvious typo in my last post - should read " .... since Aug 2013" (obviously!).

@Andersonic:

Thanks for that link. That's one I hadn't found before, but it's bookmarked now.
