The Oversized Timber Co.
New member
Hello folks,
Located in County Durham I have been building a small timber business for the last 4 years.
I mostly focus on large oversized hardwoods (Oak, Elm, Ash from 600mm up to 1700mm diameter)
Have a kiln which holds roughly 14m3 suitable for drying down to 6% and use steam or fog produced by ultrasonic’s to equalise & condition. (Most timber is dried to 8-9% unless specifically requested for lower)
Over the last couple of years I have started making tables, desks etc. from some of my materials and thought it might be a good idea to join the forum to expand on some of the more detailed joinery and furniture work that is out there.
Happy to share any information I have on wood/timber science as I will no doubt be reading plenty from yourselves that will help me expand my knowledge of furniture joinery. (Not built a chair yet but I might tackle that sometime in the near future)
Will post some photos of the workshop and timbers in the near future.
Thanks for reading.
