If you are going to cut a piece of 4x2 to 4x1, its more than likely a bandsaw would be used unless the sawyer has a very high spec. table saw.
I would reckon to lose an 1/8" of kerf so there should be 3/16" left on each piece of 4x1 to play with. Then the thicknesser jumps in. (for me anyway)

Sorry, i meant re-saw 4x2 down to 4x1 using a bandsaw.
Or cutting a veneer. IME a poor quality blade just won't cut
well enough.

I have had my 1/2" bandsaw blade supplied by Screwfix in use since February and provided I raegularly tune up the settings I have no problem.
The makers sawblade lasted about a month and its in the bin, might use it for cutting up the turkey this Christmas :evil:

Or could even lay it across the road to catch those taxi drivers who wake me up at 2 am in the morning when their customers disturb me banging their doors.
