Hello! remember me?
I had great plans of how to get more hours at the lathe .... mice and men? they don't know they are born! not even been on this site for months! so I shall have to check up on some old posts to catch up.

I have an item I would like to try painting something on. but, as i havent tried this before I am not sure what type of paint is best to use. any suggestions people?

Thanks Mark. I am sure I have some acrylics around .... somewhere! :-k
the hunt is on!
Do you know if it will it finish in the normal ways? or do some finishes dicolour the paint?

I use renaissance wax over the acrylic and it doesn't discolour at all. The other point to remember is to use good quality artists' acrylic paint, one of the brand names They are better at keeping their colour.

Hiya Pete! nice to be back. I got a few finished this week at last!! I haven't got round to photos yet, never mind uploading them. but I shall get on to it this afternoon and hopefully post them tonight.

I have hunted through my paints and have oil, water colour, glass and porcaline paints .. but can I find any acryilc can I f ..flip!
looks like a trip to town. :x

That sounds as though it could be a Saw point waiting to happen on the household 'must have' tool list.

Welcome back to the madhouse Mrs S. we have improved in out eccentricities whilst you have been away.

Glad to hear it Chas, eccentric is good! \:D/

May be a while on the scroll saw though. just bought a tow bar for the car and I'm off to French France in a few weeks so will need some vin blanc money! ...... anyone know the French for 'wood turner'? :-k
