Hi All,

Me again ;) After my recent question about upgrading my Record SS16V it subsequently died last night so forced the decicion as I have a large order to cut!

Having spent 7 hours in the car today and driving halfway up the country I have returned home with a Hegner 2S with RCD and variable speed foot pedal. It's just had a brand new bellows and quick release tension lever.

Are there any tweeks or tuning that I can do to it? Have seen a few people have modified the extraction.

Just going to go through it, lube where the manual says and check the electrical connections initially.

Cheers,

Jon.

WOW!!

Just tried a small cut with it in the kitchen.... Cuts like a dream, no vibration :)

they are class bit of kit so shouldn't need tweeking
Have fun and lets see some scrolling projects now lol

Jon.

A note of caution, do not get oil on the blade tensioning rod/screw at the rear of the arms, if you do, it is not a disaster, but you will not be able to maintain a good blade tension.

I am sure you will have many hours of enjoyment, using the saw. You have made a sound choice.

Take care.

Thanks Chris :)

I have been through all the electrical bits and replaced the plug, a trailing socket fitted the correct fuse and rewired the other connections. The wiring was bloody shocking to be honest.

Next step was making a base which I have done, I'll be using the saw indoors and outdoors both sitting and standing.

Before I mount it I have checked all the bolts, the ones that shouldn't come loose have been thread locked. The only place I can see to lubricate are the upper and lower pivot arms.

Next step is to design and make the dust extraction......

Cheers,

Jon.

Look forward to seeing/hearing what you come up with regarding the dust extraction as its something I need to sort on mine.... the more comfortable you can make your work area the more you'll want to make stuff.
I am still trying to organise my workshop after getting it fully watertight and new d/g windows/doors fitted and sorting out what fits where lol Its a slow process but hopefully it will get finished one day
Cheers

I will definitely post it Brian!

Have a rough idea what I'm going to do tomorrow extraction wise initially, then see how it works and refine as these things do.

If it's of any interest to the other scrollers on here or anyone with a scroll saw really I'll document it but the measurements will be Hegner specific! If I can get it to work in conjunction with my "Skeety Cyclone" then i'll be happy :)

Cheers,

Jon.

Great stuff Jon and I think the guys/gals on here would find it helpful as most jigs/rigs etc can be adapted for different brands of saws etc...... I have a Dust Deputy Cyclone and amazed at how well they work using just a shop vac (mine is a 1500w Einhell from Argos) and I bought a 20ft hose off Ebay which fits the cyclone.
You will probably know that 99.9% of workshop tools usually need "adapters" and i guess its part of the fun inventing different bits and bobs to make things easier.
Cheers
Brian

Adapters..... tell me about it ;) I'm trying to make everything the same size, have sorted the extraction on most of my DeWalt stuff, Festool to be the same size.

Have come up with a solution for the bottom extraction which is pulling about 95% of everything from down there. That may actually be higher but I won't be able to tell until I play with the top extraction.

I invented my Cyclone and it works really well :)

Parts wise I am at about £10 for the base and extraction, I had some stuff left over from previous projects. By the time I add top extraction and add a variable speed controller I will be made up :)

Seems the previous owners "variable speed" was down to the appalling wiring lol.

Cheers,

Jon.
