Headstock Spindle Adaptors

Having never used one, is there any issues with using one of these Record Power Thread Adaptor (M33 x 3.5mm Female to 1" x 8 TPI Male) - Biven Machinery Sales until I get a different chuck?

I currently only have 1 chuck, a Record Power SC3 with a 1" x 8 tpi thread and I'd like to use it on a lathe that will be turning up next week (which has a m33 thread spindle).

It should be absolutely fine. Just make sure it is secure if you run in reverse

I bought a RP m33 to 3/4 16.....it’s absolutely fine... in actual fact the chuck I have run so much better...if you need one get one... there fine

If you get one you can make your own wooden fixturng to suit whatever your doing....I do.
The RP one is £20.....very well made

I've been using a RP M33 to 3/4x16 adapter with two old Axminster chucks and it works perfectly.

Extending the spindle with an adapter and putting the chuck further away will contribute to more vibration but if you are working with relatively short turnings it shouldn't be a problem.

I've ordered the RP adaptor I linked to. No doubt, I'll be buying another chuck in the future (probably a SC4 as all my jaws are from RP) with a m33 thread to avoid the situations Paul mentioned.

The SC4 package is on offer atm. Recommended and has lasted very well. Mine is almost 4 years old.
