Hi all,

Which would be better?

Carpenters hatchet

d1001.jpg

or

sportsman axe

Main use would be chopping timber plugs for door casings, etc but it'd also be needed to do a bit of heavy duty chopping and being 'clonked' with a lump hammer on occasion.

I've got an ox head hatchet at the moment but it feels a bit weird and unwieldly :? I like the look of the hatchet but the hammer head would rule out the option of using it with a lump hammer

Have a look at The Axe Book (3.8MB) and see if you can tally up what you want to do with the features of those two based on Gransfors explanations of their own models.

Cheers, Alf
