Has anyone made a homemade lathe bed extension?

I don't see why you couldn't make an anchored tail stock position, or an anchor point for the tail stock and fix it to the bench.

The bed extension for this lathe can be bought from Record for about £120 if you are going to be turning longer stuff regularly. Alternatively if it is for one-off or occasional use, I don't see why you can't "Heath Robinson" something from angle iron.

If you have the space, the extension has the advantage of being able to get the tailstock well out of the way when you are not using it.

I made an extension for an RPML300 by just bolting two lengths of timber with steel bar on top of each length to the bench. The steel bars were spaced to take the tailstock. Lining up took the most time. Sorry no pictures.
