Has anyone fitted an NVR switch INSIDE a Fobco Star?

Just got a Fobco Star and am itching to improve it.

I want to remove the existing power switch and replace it with an NVR.

The logical choice would be to screw this to the side..

But its bulky and I like the idea of keeping it all "internal" and was thinking of trying this:

Do you think its a bit ambitious to cut a 22x42mm hole in the side, neatly.. Considering the wall thickness of the Fobco is around 8mm? I would use a disc cutter, but the disc is too big and won't cut through, so i would have to use a variety of hand tools to 'square' off the hole. Do you think its even possible? Has anyone done it?

Rather than carve up a clasic drill why not mount the NVR on the wall adjacent to the drill? That way you get the proection and keep the drill intact.

If this is for home use you are about to ruin a good drill

Good point.. Exactly the reason I asked.. And you are right.. I am replacing bent/broken motor bolt/handles.. Rather than use a Hex Head bolt, I am going to weld the old handles onto, to try and keep it original.. So why would I go to this trouble and then carve up the side... I get it.

Perhaps I need to take a step back and reconsider my options.

Thanks for the feedback.

There was one already fitted on mine. The guy had just removed the switch and bolted the nvr to the casing

I haven't got pictures but the one at work has a big NVR box on a bracket sticking out the side. I think it was a later addition sometime in the 70s!
