I'd go if anyone wants to take out the front passenger seat, install a poof (carefull) and let me drive from the back seat, natter constantly all the way there, not mind the constant farting (due to the pills, honest guv), stop for a pee every 20 mins and oh yeah come to Edinburgh to pick me up. I'll happily contribute erm, £3.60 (all the change I have) towards petrol

I was going until SWMBO declared that an unrelated 5yr olds birthday party trumped my tool habit :-(

I'd love to go, but the cost implication and my lack of self control scares me to death ...

I went today. Took the afternoon off work. It was OK. Cash only on the door, which is daft really - it is 2015 people!

Main observations:

- Pretty much everybody there was over 60. Not an issue at all, just made me realise that my chosen hobby makes me even more of an old man. Could be to do with it being Friday though.

- The event is heavily turning based. Most demos were of turning.

- There was some great wood on offer, but again cash only!

- Axminster stand was there. I got to look at the Tablesaw I was going to upgrade my TS200 to - the TS250 mk2. The stand model's fence was setup wrong, with it completey out of alignment. Although the fence is better on the Mk2 it still suffers from the same issues of not being able to nudge and move it in small increments accurately. It also doesn't have the T-tracks on it of the old one. The clamping mechanism is better though.

- Looking at YouTube videos of the US events (WWIA etc.) it seems they seem to do a better job of these kinds of events than here. It could do with some proper break out rooms with demonstrations etc. (that aren't just turning), something like the equivalent of Roy Underhill swinging an axe on a log would be fairly interesting.

i am justifying going, because there are a couple of bits that I want, and the entry fee is equivalent to the postage that I would pay on them. I don't think that I will be there all day.

Were stands taking cards or cash only?

well, i went, and spent about 2 1/2 hours at the show. it was very busy. seemed to be some deals on machinery, but i don't know how good they were because i am not in the market for anything at present.

i bought a few bits and pieces, so all was well. it took some effort to fight to the stalls and then find somebody to pay for them.
