It's a funny thing, I have played guitar all my life: studio, stage, some teaching. Some classical, but mostly steel string and electric. In bands I always had to play standing up, with a strap. When practising (the other 90% of playing) I always played sitting down and never with a strap. I use a footstool, or one foot on the other or anything that feels comfy. There is no such thing as rules here: it is about creating a musical sound.
As I said in the previous thread, classical guitars are somewhat different. Thicker and wider neck, different strings. I always found it difficult to get the required leverage and precision if not seated and with the neck raised. But we are all different.
