Anyone know where I might get a granite surface plate in Northern Ireland.

The carriage is too high to get shipped.

A granite worktop supplier, or headstone maker might be worth a try?

If you need a surface plate, random "fairly flat" pieces won't serve.

China is exporting super cheap, and certified accurate, granite surface plates, but (as you say) shipping is the deal breaker.

I know it's a while off but if you haven't souced one by christmas give me a shout, I'll be coming back over in early Jan by boat/car so you could get one shipped to me and I'll bring it over and drop it off to you (assuming you are in North Down or South Antrim). If not I can leave it with my parents and you could collect from them when you are down that way.

If I change my mind and get over sooner I'll let you know ahead of time.

Cromwell Tools sell them and have a branch in NI. If you order one from them and pick it up you wont have any shipping charges to pay. The branch in Belfast and there is also one in Dublin. As I dont know exactly where you are heres hoping that you wouldnt have too far to travel.
