Dumb question alert! Which way does the grain run on Birch Plywood? I've always assumed that grain always runs along the long dimension of ply, but many suppliers list two sizes, both 2400x1200 and 1200x2400. So obviously one has the grain running what I would consider "normal direction" and the other has it running across the width of the board. But which is which?

Yes you can get both, the first dimension will be the length followed by the width.

merchants tend to refer to it as long grain or short grain. IE 1 sheet of 18mm 8' x 4' long grain.

That's brilliant. Thanks so much for taking the time to help me. Three good answers to a stupid question within 1 hour - this forum is full of absolutely amazing people. Thanks again.
