Since I retired from the IT grind I've doing some repro. A&C stuff recently ...

Limbert small double oval table. I made it about normal "coffee table" size.

... and this is a Macintosh Tall Chair which is about the same dimensions as the original.

I really like those! I've always been a fan of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. I particularily like the chair. Lovely colour to the wood too.

The table is sweet chestnut (fumed) and the chair is oak. I use hand tools quite a lot but also machines to avoid too much unnecessary labour :D

Hi Roger,

Seeing your Rennie Macintosh chair reminded me of a project I had about three years ago where I was commissioned to make a full dining suite. They wished for a slight twist on the original and as well as leaving them natural oak as they wished to keep the room light and airy I also inserted stained glass squares into the back uprights in the chairs.

Very, very nice .. and some commission! My trouble, as a hobbist, is that I get bored making more than one of an item so I could never do this as a job :D Yes, Mackintosh used stained glass in the cut-outs of some chairs, didn't he. Never tried myself - yet!
