I've seen Patrick Lindsays site before, sometimes has items on e-bay.
I could put a price tag like that on my work, but don't think I'd sell any...
Must be nice if you can.

Done properly they are actually quite nice to drink from.

This one is used daily for drinking beer (well almost, lager actually) holds a can.

does that have a glass liner ? or if not how did you seal the wood against the effects of the alcohol ?

If you wax it well enough it'll hold liquid. You can also use melamine or plasticote. Red wine will soak in ansd stain but other liquids seem OK.

I remember reading somewhere recently that Melamine was the way to go... and that Alchohol 'broke down' the composition of waxes and oils or varnishes... I'm thinking maybe that would be more likely to occur with spirits rather than a beer or lager, but thats just my own guess ..

I think it was on someone's site who made & sold a lot of drinking vessels, for use with various alchohol-based drinks and he finished them with minimum 6 coats of Melamine laquer .. and mentioned why it was used in preference to any other finishes, but I can't for the life of me remember who's website it was.

Whether his 'thinking' was factually accurate or not, I couldn't say...
but I remembered thinking 'thats quite specific'.. especially compared to similar websites offering similar things, I must remember that for the future'

I'd imagine red wine would be a bit guilty of staining almost through anything... best plan is to not let it lie in ANY vessel too long.. including the bottle it came in ! .. especially if its label says "Barolo" 8) 8) 8) :D
