3 days of using a PC was enough for me.

Went to see the mac doc this morning, a very nice man, he confirmed all the previous diagnoses and the old iMac is now looking down on the poor PC mortals.

A new imac was there ready and waiting to be offered a new home complete with a proper keyboard (in English with a number pad). I even got a discount, yes off a Mac, only €80 but not to be sniffed at.

I though the old one was gorgeous but this one has blown be away, and soooo many new toys to play with.

I am so glad I have the external disc (Lacie and carbon copy cloner), transferring all files, settings, applications etc was a cinch with firewire 800 only took about 5 mins.

Dick,
yep received email, just let me know a day or so before if you do happen to pass this way.
I am not sure sure that I can "justify" it either - just wait until you have to do without.

Andy I do not know about the Apple Mac, I have only ever used PC's, but I can tell you that the Lacie external drives are brilliant. I have the 500GB D2 Quadra.

Cheers

You know, they say an Apple a day keeps the Doctor away. You clearly need a Doctor Andy!

Roger,
the smell is nice, they should bottle it.

The magic mouse is, well magic! Especially like the zoom facility.

Any ideas why software update is taking so long to download the OSX update? It is currently showing 9 hours! All the other updates went really fast and the broadband connection is whizzing along at 10mbs. so I guess it is server issue at Apple's end?

For anyone who does not update to an external drive I would do so NOW! You never know when the computer, PC or Mac, will fall over.

Andy

Couldn't agree more about the external (or 2nd) drive.

Except in my case it was the external drive that died. I lost all my school stuff - lesson plans, materials etc.

Oh how I laughed! Never looked back...
