I was asked by my wife to come up with gift ideas for £15 and under so that she can pass the list on to her parents & siblings. It's because I'd prefer them to spend money on something I'd actually like receiving than getting chocolates or smellies which just make me fat(ter) or smelly - not sure if the later is a good thing or not!

I was thinking that I'd ask everyone here what they would like or have some good ideas or perhaps seen a good deal......preferably carpentry or joinery related.

I've put down a Trend Credit Card sharpening stone and also lapping fluid

Looking forward to seeing ideas. :)

i bought a drum sander for £12.50 earlier- cheaper than bothering to complete my build of one. it is a present to me.

Just a gloat really- no help at all to you.

Axminster gift voucher - £10
+
5 Lottery entries - the possibility to buy anything you want.

Four-sided diamond block from B&Q. Even if you don't find it useful for woodworking gubbins there's always SWMBO's kitchen knives, the garden shears etc. that might benefit.

Just checked and it's a bit outside the price range at 20 quid (expected it would be slightly less over there) but B&Q also stock a hand plane that's an excellent candidate for conversion to a roughing plane if you have a need. If you'd prefer wooden handles and the same cap adjustment (wheel rather than lever) the Faithfull one on Amazon is about the same money, also more attractive in that the bed is black + brass fittings.

If you don't mind the lever cap, er, having a lever then there's always the Silverline no. 4, which is £14.35 currently.

Silverline also do a low-angle block plane that's currently £13.04 on Amazon if you're in need of a small end-grain specialist. I have a clone of this plane and it's a great little user.

I've never bought a Lottery ticket. I thought they were a quid?

Me too lol I went in a shop the other day and asked for 2 lucky dips and gave him £2 . He said it was £2 a go now and it has been for ages lol. I'm not a big gambler :)

I went into a shop the other day and saw a "Lucky Dip" sign next to the till so i nicked a tenner out of it! they were right "Win Every Time" lol :)

Gift idea..... what about Amazon or even Argos vouchers? you could use them when they start with the boxing day sales..... last year I got a few cracking deals on Amazon that were real reductions unlike some of the tool companies who are putting the price up in November and having them at sale price (original price) in time for Christmas!

Under £15 hmm. I bought a very useful and durable little torch from Screwfix which cost £5. For the other tenner, how about a quick grip clamp....always useful.

Or how about some abrasives, can never have enough.

How about Axminster vouchers so that you can visit their shiny new store, that's not a million miles away from you?

Thought someone would have posted this by now, but I'll de-lurk long enough to do so. Chris Schwarz does an Anarchist Woodworker's Gift Guide every year. All of them are gathered here:

A few are somewhat over budget but not by much.

I looked at that and saw the compass on the list, after reading the thread about the old compasses and how some can move on you I thought this sounds great...

right up to the point I clicked the link and got the price.

Nope - I definitely wasn't expecting that!

Well, they are Starrett :D. And less than 90 quid on Amazon UK.

(There's only one Starrett tool in my workshop, which is a tiny-but-beautiful 4-inch engineer's square that cost something like a tenner from eBay).

Ok, here are fifty items for less than 15 pounds or 34 items for less than 10 pounds. The good news is that there isn't any carriage charge.
