i used cascamite in the end to glue two legs up- the other 2 will be done this afternoon if i get finished from work in reasonable time- as always I didnt have enough clamps to do all 4. The hide glue took some getting off the 1st 2 legs- I used hot water and rags to remove it and was suprised just how stronly it had bonded.
My decision was 3 fold- firstly I didnt want to rush the glueup, secondly I couldnt get any squeezy bottles or marbles yesterday, so the idea to speed up the glue up wasnt an option. Finally, I had a tub of cascamite that has a few months left of shelf life so it didnt cost me anything to use it.
I think that whichever option I had gone with, the glue would have been fine. The hide glue glueup on this application would have benefitted from a bit more experience than i have at the moment. If it had gone wrong and i had have been left with a glue line, reversable or not, I doubt that the hide glue would have came apart over that glueing area!
