Free software - Lathe Magic by Rich Schafermeyer

It's a beta programme meaning there might be a few bugs.

"Lathe Magic is a program that quickly generates unique designs for woodturning and other lathing methods.
Use it to create designs you can turn into real objects on your woodturning or metal working lathe."

Also in my travels I came across some AAW Woodturning Videos

Thanks for the link on sharpening. I'm not a real woodturner but do need round bits every so often - a great basic reference for me.

Hello, I'm the author of Lathe Magic software. I just started sharing it with others last October. I've shown it to a number of members of my local woodturning club. Some take to it right away and others aren't quit sure how to proceed. I created a short 7 minute video that illustrates the key steps to generating, modifying and printing a design. Hopefully it shows that the program is pretty easy to use. You can also look at the on-line tutorials and download and read the user manual, but that can be a lot to wade through before you know if it might be of interest. Since I can't post a link to the video, you can find it on the Lathe Magic home page if you follow the link in the first post to this topic.
