Just about to buy this tool and was wondering whether anyone could offer a word of advice, good or bad. With only 1100w I wonder if its up to the job.

Welcome to the forum
I cant say about the fox but I am sure some will be along that can

Mine needed carefully setting up to get barrel infeed and out feed tables all in line thicknesser bed needed lots of wax and i reduced infeed roller spring pressure on chain side and fitted a lighter spring on chain idle but others have not done this and are ok its a robust machine it will tell you if the cuts to heavy. Nice finish with sharp blades no snipe. Check planer fence for flat and square they seem to get damaged in transit.

Hi Grumpy Old Man
You will find they/we are all friendly on here :) and as you will see helpfull too

Old, you're a star, thanks ever so much for the info, but when you say the machine tells you if it gets to much, I shall be working with Oak most of the time, so in your opinion would it cut well on 1mm, 2mm, or 3mm. Or don't you think its up to the job.

It laboured with a 2-3 mm cut on 8 inch wide meranti (taper on board) but a push helped it through best i can do sorry.

I haven't any experience of this particular machine but I guess there is a reason why many or most similar machines tend to have 2 or even 3hp motors (I think 1hp = approx 750 watts) and I would be concerned also that it would be underpowered and would be tedious to use and ultimately because it would be working towards it's limits would wear out quicker.

All just instinct and supposition though rather than actual experience  :D

Cheers, Paul.
