As mentioned the Famag are good but I still use my Fisch wave in preference. Just cuts a cleaner hole with less effort.

Have to say, the Dewalt "extreme" spade bits produce rather good clean holes, and they seem to stay sharp for a long time.

Yes, we use them at work - one of the best spade bits I've used.

Well folks you have given me plenty of food for thought, the Bormax can be had off German eBay for a bit less money than over here but the postage reduces the savings a bit.

After looking round the Zobo bits don't seem too badly priced (comparatively!!), with the removable/changeable points and they look easier to sharpen!

I need to have a serious think, thank you all!
