I have been offered a length of sycamore, but it is too large and heavy for me to cope with.
Details as follows.
Dear John,
I have selected a nice board of sycamore as follows.

2950 x 430 x 41mm 89.09
carrier to Devon from Surrey. 13.75
102.84
vat 15.43
total £118.27

PM me if interested and I will pass the telephone number over to enquirerer.

At £50 plus Vat a cube excluding delivery it seems a little excessive to me. I have just looked at my trade price list and sycamore in Waney boards is £15.75 a cube and straight edged maple 1 1/2 inch is £25 a cube. Retail prices are usually only about 15% more so still loads cheaper.

cheers

Jon

Thanks for your helpful reply. I would be interested to see a trade listed catalogue of prices that you mention.

Wouldn't we all? P'raps Jonny can order it in for us whilst he's at it, delivered in his own good time of course.

I'm going to Jedburgh next week to collect wood from Ross's group. (As per pages of previous posts). They're charging £17.50 per cu ft for square edged kiln dried sycamore.

Any chance you can over order and arrange carriage down to Devon for me .. Take 3 cu.ft. at that price.
PM me ?

John, seeing as Laird is in Scotland, I think it would be much better to go straight to Ross and you'd be doing him a favour if you arranged the courier your self. Once you know the dimensions of the timber from Ross then you can have a ring around for quotes.

DW, no probs. A mate's insisting on driving me over in a van, rather than me pop over in my car. So we'll have space (I'm only picking up 15+ cu ft of different woods, for furniture).
However, as Wizer points out, I'm in (or rather just off) Scotland. So any courier would have to travel 4 hours drive, plus a ferry, futher away from you. You would probably be cheaper contacting Ross's local courier (who's just off the A1).
However the choice is yours, let me know by Wed please.

Thanks, I have never had much luck with couriers and their prices.

Can anyone let me have a couriers contact number or web site in that area, or cant Ross supply delivery contact.

To Paignton Devon.

DW, we need to sort out a group buy from Ross.
If we can find a sensible place to get a delivery to between 3 or 4 of us then I could drop a few Cu ft down to Paignton no probs.

OK count me in for 3 cu.ft. plus of 2" thick sycamore with straight edge.

How about you Lord Nibbo?
There is a user here at Teignmouth.
Plus some in the West Dartmoor to Plymouth vicinity.

i would be interested in 10ft3 of sycamore and maybe a few other bits if anyone in my area was interested oh and i know a man with a large transit we could use (me)
