Hi All, This old lady is, I think, a Type 5 (1911). She (sorry Gill/Alf!) has all original features and the original asphaltum finish, but a Matheson blade. Handles and sole show signs of use only, no serious knocks, dinges or pitting; . Thin shavings as a matter of course. Photos will be made available to serious contenders - anyone out there interested before I approach Ray Isles or, dare I say it, 'The Bay'?

I am selling as I am re-appraising how I work. As a long time lurker, I aspire to be more creative and therefore make/post more pieces. I am starting with a serious audit of my toolbox and 'old arn', intending to use funds raised by selective selling to fill gaps leading to my percieved direction of woodworking. This lovely old plane has seen limited use in the twenty years we have been together, but her replacement will, with luck, get a lot more use.

PS Record 148 dowelling jig in its original box? With original instructions? Bushes not out of the bags? Anyone?

Ray Isles has a nice one, three figures; American sites are quoting $180-$450.

I don't yet have a web presence with photo storage, but I can email shots to the interested.

Thanks Bugbear, will look into it this evening when I get home.

Hi all,

If anyone is interested there's a Stanley Bedrock No.607 listed on Trademe (NZ). It's been relisted after it failed to sell first time around. Highest bid was $NZ260, and it was offered to bidders and watchers at $NZ380.

If you're interested go to trademe.co.nz and search Antiques & collectables . Tools (sorry my PC skills are not up to posting links).

It's out of my reach. If I had that sort of money I'd be ordering a Veritas BUS or Clifton No.4.

Cheers, Vann
