I have all sorts of saw horses, wooden, plastic and metal ones, but I find them awkward for when I'm trying to hold and cut pieces of timber, so my solution has been to use a folding hop up with a piece of a fire door blank screwed on, works really well and It can still be used a a hop up, and folded away.

I have something similar for cutting tile and stone on.

How did you fix it to the hop on
Simply screwed it from underneath, drilled some clearance holes in the ally first though, I did need to route out a strip on the under side, either end of the wood, as the hop up has a thicker part where the hinges for the legs are, so it would sit flat.
