Lastly I was wondering what colour to respray her? It looks like a kind of crappy French car original colour so I have a washer with some paint on as a sample to try and match it at the local auto parts place. Any better suggestions welcome.

If the spindle is bent then any other work will be a total waste of effort. Check and resolve that first.

Yeah I figure that but I'm sure the fitters and toolmakers at work will lend a hand and be able to resolve it. I've only really cleaned off the spilled paint so far. If I'd had the manual I'd probably have been done by now on the mechanical. Thanks for the advice so far gents.

As far as colour goes, my Star is a very similar grey to old Myford ML7s, but some of them also seem to be that creamy yellow that Myford (again) used on some ML8s.
Would be very surprised if downward pressure had bent the quill, though it's not impossible. If there is runout, it could be the chuck, or its mounting that is at fault.
Most abused pillar drills have tables that look like Gruyere cheese from drills going through the work into the table - mine certainly was. A reasonably skilled welder should be able to fill the holes prior to re-machining, but you'll need a good size surface grinder to get the final result flat and exactly at right angles to the column.
