Well, I went around all three local-ish branches of B&Q today and none has it. It's on the B&Q website but marked as 'in store only'.

After some extensive web research I've found that Poolewood do the exact same model but only at £68 ex vat.

SIP also do one that looks similar. It's here at £56

(scroll down a bit)

Like DaveL, I also found the Ferm one but despite looking all over the Internet I can't find anything other than a 2800rpm speed, although that would be ridiculous for a wet wheel - instant shower!

The SIP one doesn't score so well in the bargain category, but given the good reviews SIP has been getting lately, I might be tempted.

I guess they are in the loughborough branch as i did not see any in leicester today.
The one on the world of power site looks very much the same grinder.

DaveL No I don't as yet anyway ! I'm pondering but I need to go into town tomorrow night so I may be tempted. Its nice to see a picture of them, strange though the ones I saw in Loughborough were green but still boxed, so i suppose they may be red.
Jigs should not be too much of a problem as there is good access to most of the wheel.

Tony which store did you use ?

Bean

I got mine from the main B&Q in Leicester. The display model was indeed green but mine was red - but then you know that

I bought the last one in stock but they were expecting more in this week

Pete. The full price was £79.95 and they are marked down to £39.95

Cheers

Since I'm apparently living in the UK's largest Rexon grinder wasteland, I don't know that you needed to repeat that :p .

Have you had any thoughts about replacing the dry wheel with something suitably stroppy, a la Tormek?

Axminster do the same machine for 29.94. The only difference I can see is the devil stone in the holder.I am goung to try to put up a photo of my jig but I'm sure you guys can improve on it.

Sorry for rubbing it in Pete

Actually yes I have considered the Tormek stone + the grader stone - UNTIL I saw the rpice. £60 for a grinding wheel????????

Can anyone point me in the direction of the replacement stone I saw on here a few months back? I think it was blue, cheaper than Tormek and the poster found it to be better than the original Tormek stone.

Have a look here:
http://www.peterchild.co.uk/

I think they do the stones you're thinking of. They also do additional bits & pieces, including a £14 tool jig for grinding. I've never used them - found the site during my grinder research yesterday - told you it was an extensive search :). (You wouldn't believe how many kitchen supply shops sell wet & dry food grinders!)

If this works it is a miracle. This should show my attempt at a jig for my Axminster wet grinder.

Always terrified in case a slip of the mouse turns an "edit" into a "delete"

Thanks Alf. What did I do wrong or what should I have done extra?I have another image to post so I will try again[imgimhttp://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid124/pe88a3a26f46720748a1feb29585601f2/f80ddc1b.jpg.thumb.jpgg][/img]

jarmar what you should have use is :-
Code:
[img]http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid124/pe88a3a26f46720748a1feb29585601f2/f80ddc1b.jpg[/img]
like here:

Well don't speak too soon. They've gone again... :( Personally I think Imagestation is a major pain in the you-know-where, but for future reference, you've put:
Code:
[imgimhttp://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid124/pe88a3a26f46720748a1feb29585601f2/f80ddc1b.jpg.thumb.jpgg][/img]

When you should have put:
Code:
[img]http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid124/pe88a3a26f46720748a1feb29585601f2/f80ddc1b.jpg.thumb.jpg[/img]

The main trouble is you've broken up the tags by putting the url of your image within part of the first tag, instead of between the two bracketed tags. If that makes any sense. :? So the image url always goes between two sets of closed brackets, viz: []url[], not [url ][]. See? You need to aim for something like this:
Code:
[img]http://www.myprovider.com/prettypicture.jpg[/img]

So let's give your pic a shot again with the right tags:
f80ddc1b.jpg.thumb.jpg

Fingers crossed... Nope, not working for me. <Expletive> Imagstation. I can get to it direct, so I'll save it temporarily to Uploadit.Org and we'll try again. So, the codes is:
Code:
[img]http://premium.uploadit.org/prenwyth/grinderjig.jpg[/img]

Which should give us:
grinderjig.jpg

Hooray!

Alf
I think you have typoed that  theres a couple of extra letters on the end of the file name.

Its quite nice not being at work and therefore able to drop in during the day :D

Dave,

D'you mean the "thumb.jpg" bit? I tried without it (i.e the url you've used, which results in the dreaded Red X for me) and had a Forbidden message. Are you a member of Imagestation by any chance? I'm not, and we've had trouble with permissions for non-members on there before. That's why I'm not keen on it.

Cheers, Alf

No Alf I am not, but it did work at first, I wonder if they allow a few views for non members and then give the forbidden error to try to get more paying members

I have some web space with my BT account that I use for pictures. It works well but you do need an FTP client to do the upload.

And why does the spellcheck not point out that I have typoed your name
