NOTE: This clearly isn't what Derek's seeing.
Perhaps what this reflects - since our sample population is tiny - that there is some variance in the machining of details among chipmaker manufacturers. In my case, the few LN chipbreakers are uniformly unable to be used in Stanley planes.
