Hi all,

Below are some pictures of my first workbench in progress. This my first project since finishing my small workshop and first workspace that's not the garden.

It's based on many different benches I have seen and will have many uses. Will build the bottom part later. For now it will live on trestles. It's mainly made out of 18mm ply. The top will be 18mm MDF in an MFT style using the Parf jig. Size is 1220mmx880mm

Have used techniques I have not used before, mainly the routing. This was used to take the slot out for the T track. Then made a jig for the access holes, cut them close with the jigsaw, that took ages as my old DeWalt batteries only did 1 hole each of the 14. In the end instead of using double sided tape to fix the jig to the work I opted for brads then removed them. Then came the rounding, went through my box of cutters and tried on a bit of scrap, not good... went to Axminster to get the right cutter, asked for help, even had the bit of wood with me. Got an ovolo cutter, then got home and tried again, same :( bit more reading up to find I needed a rounder bit! Found a old one which worked. It took ages but I have learnt a lot :) getting far more comfortable with the router.

After that I marked out and drilled the pocket holes, then the Domino's which was another opportunity to sit and think. Got them in the right place and the dry fit went well :)

Now all glued, screwed and clamped the front.

Now onto the rest! The novelty of not having to keep an eye out for rain, take all my tools back in the house then back out is great.

Jon.
