Let me begin by saying a MASSIVE thank you to DougB who has shown me how to turn out a very acceptable bowl, and to his lovely wife Cath who kept us filled with Coffee and biscuits during my very long stay(sorry doug). It is made from a piece of cherry.

As promised here is my first bowl from the side

from the bottom

and finally from the top

Although Doug will also admit he has not turned many bowls, he is a great teacher filled with patience and knowledge, and just makes it a joy to be there.
I was running late so forgot most of my stuff when arriving at Dougs house, and also forgot my camera, so these were snapped back at home hurriedly.
Once again Doug many thanks for a wonderful day, no more will i fear the lathe.

Very nice Steve - lovely flowing curve, finish looks excellent, and nicely figured piece of cherry :D

First of many ?

Well done Steve, good choice of wood to maximise the satisfaction of getting the finish right.

It was a great afternoon, i really enjoyed it, made a nice change from working away in the shop on my own.
Also if i`d realised having someone visit would mean i got served coffee & biscuits in the shop by Swmbo, i`d have done it before now.
Glad you had a enjoyable time Steve, you know where i am if you`d like to come over again.

What a vast improvement Steve
Just shows what a difference it makes when you have someone showing you what to do.Well done to you both :D

Well done Steve =D> =D> =D> =D>

Now all you've got to do is remember what you've been taught and make the next on your own, only better

Cheers,

Richard

are becoming very talented..Nice bowl..
Another point is the coat looks great just to brush off all the

many thanks for the compliments, ALL are gratefully received. The coat is the only thing i remembered and it is a god send, as you say, just brush off the chippings.

Thats an amazing bowl for a first off :D :D

Well done Steve and to Doug for supplying the time and help.

Bets wishes,

Mike C
