First attempt at turning

never tried wood turning before, even though my dad has had a lathe for at least 25 years ( a coronet major)

the thought of the wood spinning at high speed and introducing a large chisel to it scared the poo out of me

but i have bought a new chisel for work costing £57 so i was not going to hit it with my metal hammer

so i got a lump of oak from work and went to my dad's yesterday and surprised myself how easy it was to turn a mallet
