Yes after three months with no lathe, seems like three years, finally got the lathe up and running yesterday and just had a little play with a part turned bowl i found, just to get the feel of things again, seems so strange using the tools again
So the new lathe got some shavings on it and it felt great :D

So today thought i'd be a bit more adventureous and turned a little box.
Now this was given to me at last years bash, part turned by George (Cornucopia).
It is Walnut and was dated back to 03  so was nice and dry.
Nothing fancy just a simple turning, and was my first piece of Walnut i've turned and i do like it,so must try and get some more :D
Finished in Lemon oil, what else :D

great work paul =D> -i'd forgot all about that roughed out box.
the grain lines up nice and the finish looks great, i cant belive its the first time you've tried walnut- i notice that like lightweeder you prefer to put the male tenon on the lid, i must try it that way to see what the advantages/disadvantages are :-k

Hi Paul,
Delighted to see you up and running again.
A long wait but worth it in the end.
Kind regards, Bill

George.I like to do em this way as the bottom keeps that finished look when the lid is off, without the recess showing,if you see what i mean :?
And yes it my first bit of Walnut

Happy days Paul. Think you deserve it after the hassle you have been through. Good luck with whittling your way through your stockpile of timber.

Thanks everyone :D

At the moment Steve it is housed just above the latrhe as you can see in the piccy, but i might put it further to the left to try and keep some of the dust out. :D
