Thought I would show you the finished snowmen, I nearly didn't post this as I am not happy with the way it went. It took well over an hour to fill the cut outs on each snowman and when they came out of the oven some bits of clay had fallen out here and there so dug those bits out and re-filled them and they came out a bit better but they are not perfect, certainly not good enough to put on my craft fair tables. I suppose as time goes on I will get better at it.

Geoff,

I wonder if a router would be better than a scrollsaw for the clay cut-outs? With a router you could leave the cut-out shallow ie don't cut all the way thro and the clay would have more area to bond to and therefore be more secure.

Brian

Hi Brian. I am not that good with a router on free hand work with such fine detail and it would not work anyway. The clay needs an anchor point on each cut out going at right angles to the cut out. At the moment i am in dialogue with the experts on this clay caper.
