Hi All,
I finished some shelves recently and thought I would put them up here
Pictures are from a mobile and not the best I could have taken but you should be able to get the general idea
They are made of pine and the boards started as 6" wide (ish) hand planned and laminated to make large width boards then the shape (drawn by the misses so I could not be blamed for a non-wanted design) cut with the jig saw and edges lightly rounded over with the belt sander and palm sander just to stop such a sharp looking edge.
Pleased with how they turned out and everyone has commented on how nice they look and where they can buy them so that's a nice feeling.
(sorry some of the pics are blurry, but it should give you the idea  )
Pre-finish, but up on the wall test fit
all up and with stuff on them (picture taken from an artsy angle  )
couple of blurry pics of the 2 of the shelves
They were finished with Rustins Quick Dry Varnish in an Antique Pine. The brackets had 4 coats and the shelves 3, the shelves also had some beeswax to make them shine a little.
Cheers
Mark
