Hi,
I've just finished my first major woodworking project - an oak chest. It has been finished with one coat of 50/50 linseed white spirits which was left for 10 minutes and then the excess wiped off.
I was given to understand the white spirits would then evaporate (is the reason for diluting/thinning to ease application?) but the smell is still quite strong two weeks on.
What can I do to mitigate this? I have some household beeswax - should I attempt to somehow apply this? Or would a clear UV protecting finish be more appropriate? The chest is in front of a sunny window.
Many thanks
