Finally! Warmth!

Well yesterday I finally got the wood burner installed. Took us most of the day to do it but it was worth all the effort.

Getting the flue lined up and assembled took the longest as that is the critical part.

Got it struck up today and it went well, workshop nice and toasty at last.

Now I have just got to get the hang of the vent settings and lighting it.
i am now looking forward to going to work again.

Well done Alan, the best think I ever did was to put in my woodburner not only for the warmth but the hot sausage rolls, warm soup and pasties at lunch time!!

My workshop is absolutely freezing in winter, makes it a no-go area for working in (numb hands trying to hold tools). I'm currently getting insulation installed, after that - perhaps a stove?

Yes Hud's, it is another shop on E bay: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Stoves-And-Flu ... 34.c0.m322 I went for the single wall galv flue as it was much cheaper, but they sell the vitreous and the twin wall stainless.
I have only just commissioned it max, but apparently it states you clean out the ashes about every two or three weeks. there is no ash pan so the ashes must be shovelled out. I stoked it full of sawdust and shavings compacting it down as per the instructions and then added wood as it burnt down. It only took around an hour to get the workshop up to a comfortable temperature.

The best way to get the ashes out is to use a metal ladel, preferably a free one from your kitchen!
