We have a couple of house name signs in engraved slate. I'd like to "revive" one of them, as the white infill is extremely tired. Any advice on the best way to go about this would be welcome.

Thanks. Any tips for cleaning up overfill?

Best to tape up around where you're filling if you don't fancy sanding the stone face back a bit.

Also, mix it on greaseproof paper as it's a bit sticky when mixing.

OK, I'll give it a go. As luck would have it, I just received a new pack of Milliput white Superfine a week or two ago, after find the stuff I bought 10 years ago wasn't much use any more.
Thanks. I had considered Milliput, but thought maybe it was a bit over the top compared to white paint.

Gold leaf.

Simple, attractive and easy to do.
Plus it will not tarnish.

Remove the old highlighting, clean with "Meths." Apply the Seize, then the leaf.
Buff and that's it.

Sorry to add my own question but its allied to yours

This has awakened a question I should have asked a while back

I have a flat slate grave marker for my in laws, its engraved with names etc and the white is now not so "white" any more

What would be used for white lettering on a slate grave marker?

Anyone know?

Thanks, but I think I'll stick with white.
