Last year I got a voucher for £50 off a Festool vac. I'm not sure if I got it because I bought a track saw or if they went out to any customer.

I've just bought an OF 1400 and after using it today have decided that a Festool Vac would be useful but having us £50 off previously I wonder if I'll get a voucher having bought the router or if it was just a one off thing?

They usually send them out to anyone registered on there system. The vouchers will be different each time. I think its usually winter time??

Btw the midi is a fantastic bit of kit!

I'll second that , midi is great.

There's no Festool offers on at the moment but if you're registered then they'll let you know when there are offers

Just did some routing with the 1400, plugged into a Festool hose which was then held together by hand to a dyson! I have dust extraction in the workshop but nothing mobile. MrsStu was impressed with how much dust the system collected but I don't think she liked holding the hoses together so the idea of a Festool vac is winning her over. I think the Midi is where I'm likely to go but would appreciate the £50 off!

Ah to clarify, I have a dust extraction system in the workshop so I just plug a Festool hose into a blast gate and away I go (all remote controlled). So that's all good, but it's for when I'm away from the workshop.

We have a undercover area outside our house (on the driveway under one of the bedrooms) and I have started to use it as an area for cutting sheet material. At the moment I don't have any dust collection there (it is outside) but really I would benefit from a vac to use there as well as when I do anything in the house, or occasionally away from home. I just figured if I had £50 off I'd buy one now but if not I think I might wait if it is likely to happen.

Oh and I have tried the domino without extraction and I wouldn't recommend it. It still cuts but the hole is full of saw dust and you can't get a domino in properly.

What is it about Festool vac's that makes them so much better than any other? Genuine question, not taking a pop at Festool, just that my Lidl wet 'n' dry seems to do a pretty good job with my domino (which is my only Festool tool).

Terry.

Simply the power they have, for such a small machine its impressive. They can be used to wheel or your tools about (until it falls out of the van twice and smashes the top piece)

I was on site and a guy was going on about his lidl vac and how good it was telling me i was a mug for dropping £300 on a vaccum. So i suggested he put his money where his mouth was and we layed out two thin lines of multi finish and held the hoses at the same position mine collected almost twice as much as his. And won me £20!!

Also they have a 3 year warrantie and can be used as a site vac with the pull apart nozzel kit.

I was very reluctant to buy a Festool hose at £60 or so. However what I constantly find with Festool is that the kit is just really well thought out. Even the hose is brilliant as the connector is rubber not plastic and it's the perfect size to go into or on the outside of most tools.

Same with Metabo, Fein, Bosch, Starmix. That's not a Festool thing. Speaking as a CT26 & Midi and a couple of Metabo vacs owner.

It's almost as if a gentleman's agreement existed with hose/nozzle sizes, can't for a moment think anyone standardised anything, but then, as these companies are German, perhaps they did.

I have not seen a festool voucher for over a year now i don't think.... last one i remember was a dust extractor one.

echo what others say about the midi - as powerful as the larger machines but just a smaller bag capacity. If you do get one i recommend the long life bags and try and make sure you give the bag a shake once a week to clear the pores and avoid loss of suction.

One word of warning as i have just found out yesterday... if you think you may want the CMS and router table module in future that makes use of the Y split dual hose to collect dust above and below the fence be aware that this part is only designed to work with the front hose attached machines!! On the plus side festool will happily sell you an adapter for the midi and this house for a very "reasonable" £25!!!

I have had a Midi for a while now and I have two complaints. The electrical cable always gets in the way when I roll the unit around.(I wish it was retractable like most home vac systems) and secondly the hose does not fit well on the OF 1010 but that is really a design problem on the router rather than the vac.Other than that I think is a brill bit of kit.

Apart from the green bits, it does seem like the Festool routers were designed by completely different teams. Built in hose nozzle for the 1010 and the 2200, not so for the 1400. Different shapes. Ratchet collets on some of them. Possibly a hang up from the old Protool days? Someone will know.

Having been recently deciding between the Of1010 and the 1400 I did think it was odd that the 1010 had an oval shape connection for the dust extraction.

I'm so impressed with the dust extraction on the 1400. I did some round over routing outside with no extraction and there was loads of dust. I then needed to do some inside and not having a vac I didn't want the dust everywhere so I go MrsStu to hold the Festool hose onto the dyson hose (nothing like a good fit) but even with the poor connection I didn't see any dust.

I think it's just an older design; the previous model OF900 also had an oval dust port, as did the DX93 detail sander. And +1 to the Midi; had mine since they were introduced and still going strong.

I use one of those rubber stepped reducers on the end of the vac hose which seems to accommodate all my hand held power tools including the unusual festool 1010 connection.

Can you all stop telling me to get a midi - I will I just want a voucher before I do otherwise I'll buy one and then I'll get a voucher! I wish I'd seen a deal with the midi and the OF1400.

I will! I just want to get £50 off rather than buying one and then the following day I get a voucher through the door!
