I treated myself to the ts55 for Christmas and after doing alot of shopping around found that no-one was interesting in dealing on price. It was the same price on ebay as it was from my local festool dealer. What I did manage to do though was get my local dealer to throw in some extras like clamps ect. if I bought the saw from them, so I paid the same for the saw as everyone else does but got about £40 worth of extras. At least at your local dealers you've got a face to speak to and try and deal, you can't really if its over the net

Hi Sam, as you have found, Festool operate an effective RPM system with 20% off "list" as the normal price.
However, Axminster have occasional offers for their eMail customers (latest is £10 off up to Jan 2) which you can apply to any of their catalogue items including the TS55. They did have a 10% off offer in October which enabled me to get the TS55 & guide for about £340 inc VAT & delivery

You could try phoning one of the dealers tyo see if they will match the old Axminster offer

Thanks all for your replies. The deal at MTS Power Tools looks to be the best and is also free delivery. I'm going to see if any of the local suppliers can match this. However, I doubt it. Don't ask, don't get though. I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers,
Sam

woodshavings, where do I find out about the £10 off at Axminster. I'm an email customer of their's (receive the deal of the week etc emails) but I haven't had anything from them about £10 off.... I'm about to order some stuff from them too and an extra tenner off always helps, especially at this time of year..

They posted out a leaflet to all customers with a promotion code on.

I'm a member of the email Axminster club and received an email with the 10% promo code on, can only be used online, but somewhere along the line I have accidentaly deleted it which is a shame as I was thinking of buying a few bits and bob's........

Cheers, Paul. :D

i must of deleted it too. have just searched through my deleted items, but couldn't find it.
if it was by snail mail, i'm sure my mrs would of binned it before i even saw it to stop me buying more stuff...
could somebody send me this code or is this asking too much ?

thanks,
sam

On a negative note, as I suspected, none of the local suppliers will match on Festool products. The best price I got was £362.78.

On the positive side, I got my £10 discount from Axminster on the order I have just placed with them for a few bits.. :)

I'll order my TS55 from MTS Power Tools after the new year.

Thanks for everyones help and advice.

Cheers,
Sam

Looks like you have already moved away from tool-net, but just to say that I experienced horrendous service from them recently (documented on this site). They won't get a copper coin from me ever again.

When I bought mine about 6 months ago I found www.ps-tools.com offered the best deals you only have to look at their site to see that they will match anyone on Festool.

I got my local dealer, ETR Ashford to match them so bought it locally in the end but I did buy a lot of gear if you are only buying the saw you might not get too good a deal.

Get an extractor with it if you can afford it.

Axminster are still doing the £10 off on orders over £100
when you get to the checkout just click the box saying £10 coupon for over £100
I have just done it ordering some things I received money for at Christmas,

Cheers Nigel

I've had a great result with a local dealer (Power Tools Plus) in Bristol. They were prepaired to haggle on price.
I managed to get the price down to £439 inclusive which was the best I had found and I was very pleased with that.

TS55 EBQ with Systainer
1080mm Rail
1900mm Rail
Rail Connectors
Rail Screw Clamps
Limit Stop
3000mm Splinter Guard

I was origionally going to get a pair of the 1400mm rails, but they didn't have them in stock. They let me have the 1080mm
& 1900mm for the same price as the 1400mm ones. I'd say that was a result too looking at the cost of the 1900mm rail.

They were very helpful indeed. Knew what they were talking about and took the time to explain the saw features to me.
They also took care of the saw registration for me that will entitle me to the 3 year warrenty.

Cheers,
Sam :D

1900 and 1080 rails will prove more useful too!

I was looking at this thread, and followed a few links only to find that Axminster price (£325 + vat for saw + 1400mm rail) is the same as those recommended, and in my experience, Axminster service and delivery is quite exceptional

Just worth mentioning

I'll see if I can slip a couple into my hand luggage when I visit the Festool factory in Nuremburg next week, shall I?

Ooops, did I let a little gloat slip out there?
