I picked up a Ferm pillar drill at a sale but its lacking a key to unlock the chuck. I had hoped a standard 16mm key would suffice but this chuck is a monster size.

Any idea where I can locate a key? My web searches have been futile.

The drill is a Ferm FTB-16/500 and the chuck has "16mm B16 HARVEST" stamped on it.

Any decent tool shed should be able to supply that Kc but it would be advisable to take the chuck along as well.

Roy.

I have exactly the same problem, kingcod, same drill, no key, except I used to have one until I moved house. So I'd be interested to know if you ever managed to find a chuck key.
I now have 3 that won't fit as a result of speculative ebaying!

Sorry to hear about your trobles ..and my answer won't help I'm afraid - after two abortive purchases I got one off my uncle who tends to collect such things. Its a big chuck key with a diameter of 22 mm and he assures me its not that uncommon.

I have the same Harvest Chuck. It is metric. I have just ordered an 8 mm pilot hole by 21 mm diameter gear key on Ebay from Hong Kong, and will see if this one works!... takes a while to get here, tho.

There are plenty of variations of chucks & their keys. Try the attached chart.
