Anyone own a felder saw?

I've just ordered the K700 and am eagerly awaiting its arrival, but heard that they will only take felder brand (silent power) blades. Does anyone know this to be true or not?

In a nut shell NOT True, you can fit any blade you like with a 30mm bore plus the standard slots (stops the blade from trying to keep spinning when the electronic brake kicks in). FWIW the Felder silent power blades are not that silent, some make more noise than other standard blades.
I have one that is unusable, it makes a dreadful din.

Try a Stehle or similar, much much better quality. I buy German blades from my local saw doctor, excellent quality and extremely quiet and cheaper.

The new range from Felder are badged from Freud who imho make OK'ish blades, not the best by any means. Look around there are better deals out there.

As pro-shop said, any blade with the right arbour bore size should fit.
For what its worth when my KF700S arrived it had a Hammer blade on it!

You will enjoy your Felder, mine is the dogs danglies :D

Mark.

cheers guys, i hoped it was just a horrible rumor felder were putting out to try and get me to buy their blades. And i agree, i have also used the the silent power blades before and felt the name was a little ironic.

Don't you just hate flash pr-ts who talk about ordering items worth thousands of pounds with a whim, just as if they are buying a postage stamp ](*,) =; [-X

Only joking mate, good luck to you and no offence meant at all, its just my sense of humour

As for the blade, well this simple SIP owner would say its an urban legend started by the so and so's who only want you to buy their blades. On the other hand you don't want to go out and buy cheap cr-p on a saw like that.

Cheers you lucky bu bug bugg bugge BOY :p

Cheers

Mike

well i didnt buy it on a whim, thats for sure!

But i did only find out about this possible blade issue last minute, and i couldn't ask felder, i know what their answer would of been!

As I mentioned in my first post, Freud make OK'ish blades they aren't brilliant when stacked up against the best, as for the CMT much the same imho. I'd give them a miss if it was my choice.

Get yourself a Stehle or similar. You've bought a decent machine so treat yourself to a decent blade. After all it's Xmas :D :D

I have just replace the blace on my sedgwick 450 with another guhdo piano plus....

The saw gets used alot, hard, and the previous blade has lasted a huge amount of time compared to the likes of others. is quiter and smoother than the gomes ones i used to use. but gomex are null and void.

i dont know if they make the type of blade you require...

I recomend SE saws too. Top knotch service and customer service.

I agree the Stehle blades are TOP quality (I ran the firm for 8 1/2 years)
But they only sell through their network of agents/dealers so you will always be looking at the possibility of paying a premium for your blades.
One of the other advanatges of the Stehle range is they used to stock the 72 tooth blade as standard.

many have the 28 and 48 tooth blade in stock

These two blades seem to have holes in differnt places, will either, or both of them work?

Your blades will need 2 pinholes.
either:
10 mm diameter 60 mm centres of pinholes
or
7 mm diameter 42 mm centres of pinholes

most blades are now made with a "keyhole" arrangement that covers both on the one blade as standard.
so you wont need to worry about them
