As a novice who has access to quite a bit of cherry at the moment , I'll guess that !! With the tip of it being 'native' we can now do it by elimination !!

Apart from the challenge to the novice of making such fruit, and these set a horribly high standard; lovely. Does someone do a video on making these ?

Anyway coming on to your photo of holding a bowl on a faceplate, how do you finally remove the running hole in the base of the bowl ? Sad git that I am, I extracted your plate photo and blew it up to see if the pip was still there !!

Not sure about a video but I've got to make some more in the next couple of weeks so I'd be happy to do WIP if anyone's interested.

The pip on the bottom is turned down as small as you dare and then removed using a carving gouge and a power sanding pad.
