Whoo Hoo! Why didn't I buy a Domino sooner? After getting some sheets of MDF this morning and making a start on some wardrobe doors this afternoon I have them finished ready for priming! I used the Domino for the doors instead of my usual M&T system. What a difference it made! So accurate, quick, and strong too! I have only glued two of them up but the time it has saved me is incredible. :D

seconded...the domino has pretty much made redundant my dedicated morticer except for larger projects. It is a beautifully designed tool. Mortise and tenoning used to be a time consuming bit of a pain to be truthful....when speed was a concern. Now its a breeze, a pleasure and the joints are extremely strong and accurate. Accurate to the extent that in many cases zero sanding of the assembled joint is required. That bit really surprised me...awesome.

Yes it is the 500. I have to admit that I did originally see it as an up market biscuit jointer and thought it was a scandalous price for that. Since seeing them in action and after now having used one it is worth every penny in my mind. It is so simple to use it could turn a raw novice into a capable cabinet maker in no time! All you really need is the skill to cut a square end and measure accurately! I think for jobs like these doors it makes a far stronger joint too as you are not relying on an MDF tennon sitting in a MDF groove. I can confidently say I am a Domino convert.

Thanks for the feedback Alan, glad you like it - I do wonder how useful the 500 would be for the all round wood worker, cabinets and smaller pieces seem very well suited to it but don't really know where its limits are.

All the best.

I got one a while back. It was difficult to justify as a hobbyist woodworker, but I've spent a lot of time and effort building my workshop and like to buy quality tools and I take a fair bit of pride in the stuff I've built. So I got one with a first project in mind and, well, the rest is history.

I've got the 500 and like any well designed and manufactured product it's a joy to use. My brother-in-law is a time served cabinet maker and he wasn't convinced..... He is is now ;-)

Revolutionary is an over used term, but the Festool track saw and Domino deserve the title in my opinion.
