I have just come across this fabulous high quality tool kit made in Germany, and offered to discerning hobbyists and craftsmen alike, by the Conran Shop.

http://www.conranshop.co.uk/wohngeist-tool-set.html

It is only £1,995 and is excellent value I think for a few ropey looking screwdrivers, a whole chisel and a wooden ruler. All the woody bits are pear, which is great. And the metal bits don't fall out because the case has magnets.

Maybe Santa will bring me one?

This is a bargain! Although i would have thought they could chuck a hardpoint saw in for that??

P.s. i hope they are sectioning anyone stupid enough to buy this dross!

Be fair guys - it might be worth £200 (at most).

So it's not worthless, or useless, it's just hideously over priced.

They wouldn't stock it if they didn't think they could sell it, and they don't need to sell very many.

"Set of four superb German chisels in a hand crafted box" £1200.00.

I'm just off to Lidl's, bye!

They did the 14000 quid tool box last year i think had a few LN goodies but no wherebnear the asking price

The recipient of this portable tool set by German manufacturer WohnGeist can only hope to make something with the tools as well designed and striking as the case in which they reside.

Ironically that may well be true...

I think we may be being unfair. After all there is the Conran Shop Price Promise...

"At The Conran Shop we want to ensure that every customer receives exemplary service and value for money. Our prices are highly competitive..."

With out sitting down and working it out you could probably end up with a very nice set including a FULL set of chisels and a plane or two for 500. Sure thats not including thenhand crafted pair box... but that isnt worth 1500

£200 you have to be joking if I could get £200 for a set like that I'd sell them, hee hee.

Cleaning the windows of some very expensive flats in Marylebone last two days. One of the penthouses looked so spotless I thought it was an empty showhome. All white carpets, unread books artfully opened and 'arranged' on the bed and a coffee table. Huge bathroom with neon lettering and a white stone bath. All that gubbins. Strangely soulless like a fashion magazine shoot. Ive seen a lot of stuff like that over the years, people buying their lives/homes from magazines.
I was chatting to the concierge guy while we were leaving and mentioned it and he told me 'no, the maid is paid to leave it like that everyday for when they get home from work'.

:( For all the money I feel sorry for them.

On a side note, as an abseiler I use a LOT of lifts. It always makes me chuckle in a tiny wry way when I get into Schindlers Lifts. Sad I know but stuff like that gets you through the day. So today, in that posh block of flats, you can imagine my face when I saw the lift manufacturers name. At first I was... really? then I saw the last bit...

Money. Can buy lots of stuff. Can't buy taste.

Reminds me of the Harry Enfield sketch where he has a shop selling garbage to rich Chelsea set types for a fortune, all the while treating them with disdain.

I often set out to make something, only to find that my magnetically unrestrained tools have "tumbled all over my workspace or home studio" so I have to give up and stop.
