I was just wondering what everybody is using, I've tried loads of different types and now just use disposable mouldex valved nuisance but I think I'd like something better.

I use on of these:

But it's rubbish...

For me comfort is an important factor and I find that the only ones I really get on with are 3M half masks like these

I have different filters for eg dust, spraying finishes and ammonia

No not really, unless you work in a confined area. It doesn't steam glasses up either. I wore one for 3 hours continuously while insulating my w/shop and had no ill effects.

I use the air-ace too - It's big, but not heavy...

Best feature is that your safety glasses don't steam-up when you breathe out - The exhaust air is sent to the sides.

Worst feature is the two straps around the back of your head... It means you have to take off your glasses and ear defenders when you want to remove the mask.

Another vote for the AirAce from me. I also have the add-on visor which is another £14 or so but well worth it IMO.

:D

Seriously, I was considering the AirAce as I'm getting annoyed with the safety specs steaming up.

The Air Ace seems popular so I might give that a go. Does it get damp/wet on the inside like some of the half masks I've tried?

Not in my experience, but having said that my five year old put it on the other day and within two minutes it was dripping. He might have dribbled in it though but it's most likely that he was doing his Darth Vader impression.

Cheers Mike

OK thanks for that. Think I'll order one up as I'm really fed up with the disposable ones I'm using at the moment.
I'll try and hold back the urge to do star wars impressions whilst wearing it though.
Will drilling a hole for my ciggy adversely affect the masks performance? :D

Us old pensioners have the same trouble

Well I was going to ask if I could try yours out to see if I liked the mask... but on reflection maybe not.

The good lady wife was using it quite intensively over the past few days sanding some skirting boards, she has been wearing for half hour at time session and reports no dampness or discomfort - The only thing I have found is that it does tend to pinch the bridge of the nose a bit but not so much that it leaves a mark. I could never get on with the disposable masks because of the steamed up bins issue so I tended not to wear a mask - no longer an issue with the Airace. If you fit a gasket around the ciggy hole you should be alright but then it could be argued that the smoke would cancel out the harnful effects of any dust anyway - neutralising the nastiness before they get to the lungs:)

Cheers Mike
