Am I just looking in all the wrong places or is 200mm negative rake blades odd/rare?

Anyone got any tips for where to track down a good selection of blades (for mitre saws)?

Cheers

[edit]This is to go on a 7ish year old small Delta mitre saw therefore slightly reticent about spending too much on an obscure sized blade for a saw that might have limited life[/edit]

Will a 215mm blade fit your saw? If so, have a look at the Axcaliber blades from Axminster. I've got one of the 300mm x 72t blades in my mitre saw and it's very good.

Unfortunately, I can't find any negative-rake blades in a smaller diameter. Even on eBay, 200mm blades are too coarse for cross-cutting (not to mention the rake angle). :(

Trend do them in 190mm as the makita's take that size. Have you thought of getting the existing one sharpened? And CMT do 48 & 64 T in 200mm but not neg rake.

A 190mm would probably be OK, although it's not a slide mitre saw so it'd reduce the capacity by a bit. I'll take a closer look to see if I'd get away with a larger blade but suspect not.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Have you tried Cutting Solutions? (they have a website, and a helpful guy to ask but he posts the other side)

If it's not a sliding mitre saw I wouldn't bother with a negative rake blade. I've tried both on mine and the positive raked blade makes for a much better cut.

Hi,
Could you tell us what sort of saw it is and what make. I am assuming a circular saw at the moment since you say its not an SCMS type.

If so then I don't recall any 200mm/8 inch blades but I do recall 81/4 inch blades commonly used with positive teeth and not negative teeth. And these are still available.

regards

Alan

Alan, as Matt is asking for a mitre saw blade with a negative rake, I'd imagine he has some form of mitre slide, whether it slides or not. These blades are ideal for this kind of machine; you wouldn't want to use one for cross-cutting in a table saw though.

OPJ he says further up that it's not a sliding version so a positively raked blade would be fine.
