I work as sculptor, mostly in metal but also do some woodworking.
Anyway.
Last summer I was involved in art exhibition at Longleat, a great weekend, met some nice people but no sales. However the estate manager Tommy (a great guy, Oirish, funny and foulmouthed) says ''i'd like some of your stuff for 'my' gardens'. Didn't hear back for ages and assumed he was just being polite.
We caught up over christmas,we got talking, he fancies 'a few ants' for the gardens. We met up again, had a few beers and ideas and refined things a bit.
Spoke to him today. He wants 7 ants, 3.5m long to go along the train ride, leafcutters being attacked by a Bullet ant. Then possibly a metal dragonfly around 4-5m long.
Two years back I packed in my job as a (stressed out) careworker to see if I could make something of my hobby/obsession. the Naysayers and doom mongers laughed.
Stunned, Chunko'.
