Hi guys
came across a Staubgepruft branded table saw that's for sale second hand.

Obviously some foreign make. It seems like a well made saw but I'm not sure if the seller is asking for a fair price.I found next to no info found on web search.

Anyone know anything about this make?

thanks

maybe look at it in a different way- where was it made, what is it made from- how good is the fence, how accurately will it cut. then, if you are happy with that info, how much is the seller asking, and is a table saw that will cut accurately etc worth that to you.

I know that you may not be able to get spares easily, but I think that the functions are everything. Even if a saw is known to have issues as a model, if you find one without these issues, then yours at least isnt a problem!

that said, it still hints at german made, so could be decent quality...

"Dust tested" is likely, or "Dust sealed" is also a possibilty, just as far as the language is concerned.

As suggested already, that's definitely German language so hints at German, Austrian, or Switzerland as place of manufacture.

I have to say though that I've lived in Switzerland for 20+ years and have never seen or heard of that brand, and as well as the (now relatively few) home-grown brands we do see lots of German stuff here, plus the odd Austrian made tools.

Suggest you Google for that brand name and add the above countries to your search line (individually).

Geprufte sicherheit was also on it - looks like I will have to return for a closer inspection

@Prizen:

Thanks for the link.

That extra word "sicherheit" makes a difference. I've discussed this with my wife (who has German as her mother tongue and who, although not a trades-person, is pretty tool savvy) and she has reached the same conclusion as I have, namely:

Most likely this is not a trade/brand name at all but is probably a "Quality Department" (or perhaps a Marketing "feature") notice stating that the tool has been tested & found safe to operate in a dusty environment. Quite why one would want to operate such a tool in an area where (presumably) there is already enough airborne dust to create a hazard we can neither of us imagine, but there you go!

Sorry, I/we can't help any further I don't think. Suggest you contact the present owner and ask if there's any other marking on the tool - or a picture would help (there are lots of people on this Forum who can recognise just about any tool).

Good luck, AES

Maybe it's proofed and tested against the possibility of setting fire to the dust the machine itself creates.

I have seen the devastation burning, airborne dust can create. Burning? Explosion is the word really. One reason I bought an oil-filled radiator to heat my shop; the other being the fact it's been ruddy cold this year!
