Remember my post re a 'smelly' extractor a while back..?
dust-extractor-advice-please-t62001.html

well here's the outcome....

After being returned twice to Axminster and weeks of investigation... the manufacturer came back and said "yeah, they do smell...."

"Any chance of getting another from them to try.."? i ask.

No.... say Axminster, they've stopped making them and there are no spare parts available either.

But its BRAND NEW....!!!

"So where do we go from here..."? i ask.

You can have it back as it is....

NO..!!

You can have a full refund...

or

we'll offer a (small) discount against a machine we think will do what you want, but you'll still have to stump up an extra £75

So i've spent out £227 on the extractor plus a further £70(ish) for the 63mm ducting kit.

They want a further £75 from me and settle for a Numatic NVD750....http://www.axminster.co.uk/numatic-numa ... for=702412 (which i recall George saying his dad has and is still quite noisy) its not got as much 'suck', is set up for 100mm and 32mm power tools (neither of which suit what i want it for)..... oh.. and it sits on the floor not wall hung which is why i'd reorganized the workshop in the first place

I said "i'll offer to pay an extra £50 as i'll have to adapt to make it fit what i've now set-up for...." (if you do a little maths they offered 12% discount against the Numatic and i offered to settle for 19%... remember its 6 months+ on, a lot of aggro, waiting in for collections/deliveries, oh and it was returned 'out of shape' the first time i.e. it had been dropped).

They said "no...." as they thought they were being very generous...

I said "no...." as i thought they weren't being that generous everything taken into account.... so i said give me my money back and i'll have to start my search all over again and just hope i find a system (don't want it to be 'noisy') that can incorporate the 63mm ducting that i've spent a lot of time and money on installing.....

Not happy with Axminster and not a happy bunny.......

Personally I have haven't had any issues with Administer, but it is really annoying when people fail to appreciate the effort and patience on your own part

hi niknak
i know you will not agree with me here.
but after six months your not happy with the unit - but according to the manufacturer there is nothing wrong with the unit its absolutely normal for them to smell as yours does.
then axminster offer you a full refund and discount on another purchase - if it were me i would think that a very reasonable offer and good customer service.remembering that its not faulty.
i realise the ducting issue you have but still a full refund on a non faulty item isnt bad.
hope you find a suitable solution
best of luck
