I use Office Outlook on my laptop for my emails simply because it allows me to file and keep track of them. At home I have no problem with it but when travelling I can only receive emails. If I try to reply to an email when away from home it just sits in my outbox and continually tries to send it. When away I usually have to use the Orange web site to send emails but that way I don't get to maintain the trail of messages. I'll shortly be away for 2 weeks and would like to keep track of business stuff. Any ideas?

To be clear, it's the same laptop you're using at home without issue? Typically a failure to send would relate to your SMTP outgoing port settings or similar, but that's odd if it's the same machine.

Yes it's the same laptop. It seems to happen when I access the internet through a different internet connection.

I'm going to guess that you're not just using Orange email, you're also using them as your ISP? In which case this is probably an authentication issue.

I'll let you Google the steps involved as every Outlook version is different, but in Account Settings you want to tick the box that relates to SMTP authentication. My money would be on that being the issue.

Yes you're right. I have a freeserve email, now Orange/EE and my ISP is Orange/EE. I'll look into the account settings and see what's there.

From the EE site

Not connected to EE?
If you use your computer or device away from the EE network (for example on your mobile phone or at a friends house), you may experience problems sending mail using port 25. Try changing settings to:

outgoing SMTP port number: 587
use secure connection (Secure Sockets Layer or SSL): no
my server requires authentication: yes
authentication: password
username: use the same as your incoming mail settings or manually enter (e.g. yourname.orangehome.co.uk - see username section above
password: see password section above

See you there Saturday, can have a look if you are still stuck, I run a 6 bay computer repair workshop and retail shop.

Who else is going to Yandles on Saturday?

Thanks for the offer Phil but I'll have left the B&B that morning. Maybe Yandles have wifi :)

In B&B after finishing setting up at Yandles and I can now send emails through Outlook. :D
